Charleston Travel Guide

I recently went back to two of my favorite cities Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia; my Savannah Travel Guide is HERE.
I’ve been to Charleston a couple of times before; it’s one of the most charming cities I’ve ever visited in the USA. The homes and gardens are so beautiful and if you go in the spring you can smell jasmine everywhere you go.

Where to stay…

We stayed at The Restoration Hotel; I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it! The hotel use to be a condo building before it was converted into a hotel, so the rooms are really big. We had a king suite and could have easily slept 5 in our room. The hotel has a great rooftop bar and restaurant, called The Watch. As well as a rooftop pool, with great views of the city, a really cute library that serves complimentary wine and cheese every night from 5-6pm and breakfast is included and served to your room every morning in a cute picnic basket.

Other places I looked into were 86 Cannon, Zero George, The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel, The Vendue and The Dewberry. They all looked like great hotels but I’m very happy we stayed at The Restoration Hotel, to me it was the best location and best value as well as I liked that it was a newer hotel.

What to do…

Check out the Charleston City Market
Walk down to Waterfront Park and see the Pineapple Fountain
Walk along Rainbow Row and take photos of all of the colorful houses (also check out all the beautiful houses behind Rainbow Row)
Go shopping along King Street
Take a candle making class at Candlefish
If you’re traveling with a guy, he might want to check out the USS Yorktown CV-10, WWII Aircraft Carrier & Museum. My boyfriend dragged me there, it ended up being pretty cool to see and he LOVED it!

Where to eat and drink…

Charleston has some of the best restaurants; the three Charleston classics are Magnolias, Husk and right next door Poogan’s Porch
Some other favorites are,
Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar
The Macintosh
Prohibition
The Ordinary
The Grocery
The Darling Oyster Bar
The Belmont
The Watch Rooftop Bar
Uncork Charleston – a self-serve wine bar!
Millers All Day – the best fried chicken on a biscuit!
Basic Kitchen
Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit
And for good BBQ our favorite is Rodney Scott’s BBQ, it’s just a 15min drive outside of downtown Charleston

If you go to Charleston I hope you love it! If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or DM me on IG @taraleydon
