I recently visited Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, I had wanted to go there for some time now. I stayed at the brand-new Mountain Shadows resort in the heart of Paradise Valley. The resort is perfectly nestled below Camelback and Mummy Mountain giving the resort a naturally beautiful view and with just a 10-minute drive from Downtown Scottsdale, it was a perfect location for a holiday. This newly modern designed hotel first opened its doors in January,1959 after the property exchanged hands multiple times over the years it closed its doors in 2004. The resort was privately bought in 2014 and reintroduced in early 2017 and is now an independent resort. The resort now offers 183 rooms an indoor fitness center with classes happening weekly, the new Hearth ‘61 restaurant and bar with a beautiful outdoor terrace. An outdoor pool and lounge area and an 18-hole golf course where you can play 18 holes in less than three hours, or play 9 holes in an hour and a half. I loved the interior and exterior of the hotel, I especially thought it was great that the resort features museum-quality art exhibitions with new art installed every 2 months, how cool is that?! The resort is truly a beautiful location for any special event or occasion, especially a wedding, an engagement party or business retreat. I truly had an amazing time at Mountain Shadows and would love to go back. I could have spent my whole time in Arizona lounging by the pool and eating at Hearth ’61 but I did venture out to other nearby places like,
Postino Wine Café
La Grande Orange
Welcome Chicken + Donuts
Phoenix and Arizona seriously have a great food scene!
There’s also the Phoenix Flea Market that happens monthly and one of my fave shops T. Madison, owned by the lovely Taylor Madison. Some other fun attractions in the area is the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Desert Botanical Garden and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, where you’ll see the Taliesin West House.
I had an amazing stay at Mountain Shadows Resort and I loved visiting Scottsdale and Phoenix. It truly is a destination and I hope to go back soon!
