New Orleans

I recently visited New Orleans, aka NOLA for the first time; I went with my traveling companion, my sister Erin. We had such an amazing time, it was beyond all that I had expected.  So let me tell you a little about this amazing city but first I feel like I need to give you a bit of a history lesson; normally I wouldn’t but New Orleans truly has one interesting story, I promise it’s not boring, so read on : )

Farmers' Markets

I love checking out local farmers’ markets, they’re a great way to spend a weekend morning or weekday afternoon either alone or with friends.

There is always great food shopping to be had and even though I do not consider myself to be a “foodie” I always find it interesting talking to the different vendors and learning about what they are selling, they usually have great tips and suggestions on how to prepare the food, which is great for me because I’m not very good in the kitchen!

My Home Magazine

My home was recently featured in a magazine in the Philippines called My Home, it is the Philippines number 1 home décor magazine so I was very excited to be featured in their October Issue “Living in Color”.

Here are some of the photos my sister Erin Leydon of Leydon Photography took for the magazine.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment. Thank you for stopping by.

Aberfoyle Antique Market

As some of you may know I love antiquing and finding new unique gems for my home.  If any of you follow me on Instagram you have seen my home décor photos #TLhome with a lot of different antiques I’ve found over the years. I think adding antiques or different unique pieces you find at antique or vintage markets adds a touch of personality to your home and there is usually a story attached to them even if the story is just about you going to the market and finding it there.

Peru Photo Diary

I visited Peru back in March of this year; it is one of the most amazing countries I have ever visited.
Here are some of my favourite photos I took along the way. I did 2 post write ups on Coco & Cowe about my trip to Peru, Peru and Peru Part 2.
Check them out!
Hope you like the photos! It's one beautiful place!

Key West

I recently visited Key West Florida, the southernmost city in the USA. So southern that it’s actually very close to Cuba and only a 4 hour drive from Miami.  To get there by car you take the most scenic drive on the Overseas Highway that carries U.S. Route 1 through the Florida Keys and it’s worth every minute.

Key West has great weather all year round so it is a nice spot to visit that is not too far away. It does get very hot and humid in the summer though so if you’re like me and can’t handle the heat its maybe best to go in the fall or winter when it is not so hot!

My Gallery Wall (Updated)

 As many of you know I love gallery walls, I think they are a fun way to show your personality in your home. Whether you have photos of your family and friends, places you have traveled, pieces of art or prints you have collected over the years or a mixture of all of the above, I always think they are interesting to look at.

Ombre hair, balayage hair and dip dyed hair are 3 different hair techniques. Though they can look similar and are all beautiful they are all very different.

Ombre Hair: Ombre is when your hair strand go from dark at the root gradually lightening and fading to a lighter color at the ends of the hair. Here are some examples;

Balayage Hair: Balayage is the French meaning "to sweep".  In balayage the colorist is “sweeping/painting” the color vertically with the tip of the brush and only to the front of the hair.  This gives a natural, sun kissed highlighted look.  Here are some examples;

Dip Dye Hair: Dip Dye is just that, it looks like you have dipped the ends of your hair in color and it creates a rather bold contrast between your natural hair color to the ends of your hair.  Here are some examples;

These are all great looks you just need to find what would best suite you and your life style. Balayage is probably the lowest maintenance of the 3 but they are all not overly high maintenance.

I strongly suggest going to a reputable salon to get any of these techniques done because it is your hair after all! These are not the easiest techniques to do at home.
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! Happy dyeing!
